— OUR STORY

A Building With a Past.
A Community With a Future.

The former Orr High School has become something entirely new: a volunteer-powered community center bringing resources, programs, history, events, and opportunity together under one roof.

Today, the ORR Center is continuing to transform the 68,000-square-foot former school into a welcoming, sustainable place designed to serve Orr and the surrounding communities for generations to come.

— FROM SCHOOL TO COMMUNITY CENTER

A New Purpose For a Familiar Place

The building is steadily being reimagined around the needs of the community. As the ORR Center has grown, spaces throughout the former school have taken on new life, including a 7,000-square-foot thrift store, a Mercantile, a bookstore, a medical equipment loan closet, the Giving Cupboard food program, community gathering and event spaces, and more.

Much of this progress has been made possible by volunteers and the support of the community. A dedicated team from Orr and neighboring communities helps keep programs running, improve the building, and make new ideas possible. What began as an effort to preserve and reuse a familiar local landmark has become a place where people can shop, find practical resources, gather, learn, volunteer, and connect.

What's Next for the ORR Center

We have much more we hope to bring to the ORR Center and our community. Future plans are focused on making the building even more useful, welcoming, and active year-round.

  • Veterans Hall Museum

  • Indoor pickleball courts

  • Indoor walking paths

  • A new event center with a commercial kitchen

  • Virtual golf

  • Art shows

  • Thrift store fashion shows

Every improvement, program, volunteer hour, and donation helps move that vision forward.
